INTUITIVE SYMBOLIZER

***Warning: This process is not to be used by anyone with a history of mental illness, severe trauma, or panic. These challenges are best handled with a therapist. With any emotional process there is the possibility of discomfort.***

"The Intuitive Symbolizer" is an intuitive process meant to create a symbolic clay pigeon for integration. The intuitively created symbol target is intuitively produced and rooted to our unconscious processes. The symbol target will mirror the feelings, emotions, and sensations. The advantages of sometimes using a metaphoric and symbolic target are these:

(a) The symbolic target will greatly reduce resistance making for easier integration.

(b) The symbolic target can stand in for a jumble of emotions and sensations and bring them down to a single compact intuitive symbol.

(c) The symbolic target can stand for larger items like a body.

An unyeilding rule about creating intuitive symbols for targets: They better always be made intuitively and not intellectually or logically. The reason: We want our symbols fully rooted in our unconscious processes.

INTUITIVE SYMBOLIZER

(1) LEFT NASAL DOMINANCE BREATHING: Breathe through your left nostril only for 12 deep, but comfortable inhalations and exhalations while you gently pinch your right nostril shut and close your mouth. Allow your tongue and face to relax while you are doing this. Resume your regular breathing after the 12th exhale. When you have concluded this left nasal dominance breathing go to step (2).

(2) HEART REGION PALMING: Place your right palm on the region of your heartbeat for the duration of the Intuitive Symbolizer. Go to step (3)

(3) GO TO YOUR BODY AND GET A FELT SENSE: Simply go to your body and get a felt sense of whatever your targeted feeling, emotion, or sensation is. Here you are getting that overall murky sense of whatever your target is. You might ask your body about how it feels toward a problem or a certain situation. Give it time to respond. Notice the overall felt sense. If you wish you can label your emotion, feeling, or sensation: "Those sensations" or you can breathe into the emotions, feelings, and sensations. This will provide you a slightly outside perspective of whatever it is you're working upon--the "just outside" position. If you want to warm up this process, you can ask your felt sense:

(a) What does my feeling, emotion, sense sound like? Let this sound form intuitively. It should take some time bubbling up. Listen for it.

(b) What does my feeling, emotion, sense look like? Let the picture form intuitively. It might take some time bubbling up. Watch for it.

(c) What does my feeling, emotion, sense feel like? Let the feeling form intuitively. Give it time to respond.

After the brief warm up go straight to step (4).

(4) ALLOW YOUR EMOTION, FEELING, SENSATION TO CREATE AN INTUITIVE VISUAL SYMBOL OF ITSELF: Allow your felt sense to create a visual represenation of itself. Give the symbol time to percolate and brew. Permit it to gain in clarity and detail for several minutes. There's no rush--you're merely an interested bystander watching it appear out of the depths. It may be any manner of visual symbol. A blood tinted orchid. A circle of fire dancers. When it gives you a sense of full formation, then you can go to the 5th and final step.

(5) PAY ATTENTION TO THE VISUAL SYMBOL AND LISTEN TO ANY MESSAGE OR LESSON IT HAS TO PROVIDE--THEN ALLOW IT TO INTEGRATE: Gain the full message of the visual symbol and then allow it to integrate using any of your Emoclear integration processes.

Have fun creating these symbols. They can provide valuable information about your deepest values and yearnings. They make excellent targets. You can let your intuition create a symbol of your body or your feelings about external events. Anything you have feelings about can be grist for the Intuitive Symbolizer. Pain can be transformed into an intuitive symbol and integrated.

Take care, Steve
